How does watering plants with different fertilizer affect the growth?
Broad Question
How does water plants with different fertilizer affect the growth?
Specific Question
How does watering plants with water, miracle grow, and organic fertilizer affect the grow?
Hypothesis
My hypothesis is that miracle grow will have the most growth then the plant that had organic
fertilizer, and the plant that had water.

Variables
Independent Variable:
The Different fertilizers
water, miracle grow, Organic fertilizer
Dependent Variable:
The growth of the plant
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
The plant that get only water.
Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation
●Ammonium phosphate is the salt of ammonia and phosphoric acid.It has the formula (NH4)3PO4 and consists of ammonium cations and phosphate anion
●Bloodmeal is a dry, inert powder made from blood used as a high-nitrogen fertilizer and a high protein animal feed.N=13.25%,P=1.0%,K=0.6%.It is one of the
highest non-synthetic sources of nitrogen. It usually comes from cattle as a
slaughter house by-product.It can be spread on gardens to deter animals such as
rabbits, or as a composting activator.
●Bonemeal is a mixture offinely and coarsely ground animal bones and slaughter-house waste products .It is used as an organic fertilizer.
●Humic acid is a principal component of humic substances, which are the major organic constituents of soil(humus),peat, coal, many up land streams, dystrophic
lakes, and ocean water.
●Amino acids are biologically important organic compounds made from a mine (-NH2)and carboxylic acid(-COOH)functional groups, along with a side-chain specific
to each amino acid.
●Seaweed is a loose colloquial term encompassing macroscopic, multicellular, benthic marine algae. The term includes some members of the red, brown and green
algae.Seaweeds can also be classified by use (as food, medicine, fertilizer, industrial,
etc.).It is a brown powder or cake obtained by drying the fish orfish trimmings, often after cooking, and then grinding it.
●Fish meal,or fishmeal,is a commercial product made from fish and the bones and offal from processed fish.If it is a fatty fish it is also pressed to extract most of the fish oil.
●Feather meal is a by product of processing poultry ;it is made from poultry feather by partially hydrolyzing them under elevated heat and pressure, and then grinding and
drying. Although total nitrogen levels are fairly high (upto12%),the bioavailability of
this nitrogen may below.Feather meal is used informulated animal feed and in
organic fertilizer.
General Plan
I my experiment I am going to plant three plants. I will water one with water.
I water other one with miracle grow
I water another on with organic fertilizer. Then I wait 2 weeks.
Each day I collects data.
Potential Problems And Solutions
There could be bad chemicals in the fertilizer. To prevent that I could
read the ingredients on the package
Safety Or Environmental Concerns
1. All liquids must be securely contained.
2. Bacterial or fungal cultures (including bread mold and stinky cheese)
must be secured in an airtight container. Photos or drawings are preferred
to live displays.
3.Live animals permitted only with permission of the student's teacher,
and only within an appropriate enclosure. Animals' basic needs
(food, water, bedding) must be met.

Detailed Procedure
1. I plant some seeds in three different containers.
2. Then I water one with water.
3. Then I water other one with miracle grow.
4. Then I water another one with organic fertilizer.
5. I will wait about 2 weeks.
6. Every three days I collected data.

Data Analysis
What my data shows is that organic fertilizer did nothing
at all and the miracle-grow did nothing for a couple of days
and the it was 1/2 inches tall than at the end they were 1
inch tall. The water was doing nothing foe a couple of days
like the organic fertilizer did then it was 1/2 inches tall at the
end it was 1 1/2 inches tall.
All Raw Data
Feb. 25
I started to grow the seeds Feb. 29
Miracle-grow started to fog up.
Organic fertilizer is a little fogged
Water is not fogged up at all. March 2
Nothing is going on with the plants 0 inches March 5
Water is starting to grow 1/2 inch
and miracle-grow 1/2 inch
Organic fertilizer is molding because I watered it too much March 8
Water has 8 plants growing 1 1/2 inch
miracle- grow 4 growing 1 inch
and organic has 0 and has mold 0 inch

Results
The water did the best it had the most growing then it was miracle-grow had a
little less and then organic fertilizer had zero growing.
Conclusion
I took three different liquids and water plants. The three liquids I used was water,
miracle-grow, and organic fertilizer. I found out that water did the best. Then it
was miracle-grow. The last one was organic fertilizer. That is what happened.
Discussion
For my experiment I tested how does water plants with different fertilizer affect the
growth. My question is "How does watering plants with water, miracle-grow, and
organic fertilizer affect the growth?" To do this I had to get three plants. Then I watered
the plants with three different liquids. I collected data every three days. At the end
I found out that water was the best. Then it was miracle-grow and then orgainic
fertilizer did the worse. You can look at my gragh to see how it all came out.

Background Research
Miracle-Gro is a synthetic fertilizer that contains ammonium phosphate and several other chemicals that can be toxic to your soil and plants. It is prohibited from use in certified-organic farming. Here’s what soil expert Robert Parnes, Ph.D., says in his book Fertile Soil: "[Ammonium fertilizer] acidifies the soil, and thus it is probably more harmful to soil organisms than any other nitrogen fertilizer .The application has to be timed carefully and placed properly to avoid burning the leaves and roots. In addition, ammonium tends to inhibit the release of potassium. Ammonium fertilizers are deliberately manufactured to be spread at high application rates in order to obtain maximum yields with no regard to adverse effects on the soil. Probably nowhere is the conflict between the mass production of food to feed the world and the preservation of the soil more obvious than in the confrontation over the use of either ammonium fertilizers or liquid ammonia."
Naturally occurring organic fertilizers include manure, slurry, worm castings, peat, seaweed, humic acid, and guano. Sewage sludge use in organic agriculturel operations in the U.S. has been extremely limited and rare due to USDA prohibition of the practice (due to toxic metal accumulation, among other factors). Processed organic fertilizers include compost, bloodmeal, bone meal, humic acid, amino acids, and seaweed extracts. Other examples are natural enzyme-digested proteins, fish meal, and feather meal. Decomposing crop residue (green manure) from prior years is another source of fertility.
